from 2008: Tea at the Kentucky Derby Hear that horn? It’s the call for the post parade! From 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, in the Landings Restaurant the excitement mounts as friends greet one another and prepare for the greatest race ever run. Don your favorite frock, your most elegant gloves, and don't forget your best hat, and join us for tea in the clubhouse as we celebrate the Run for the Roses! In true Churchill Downs style, there will be a hat competition, lively company and wonderful food. Place a bet with our bookie – who doesn’t like a flutter on the ponies? You might make your fortune (or at least win a prize) as we sit on the edge of our seats listening to the running of the races. The paparazzi will be about, so be sure your hat is set at a becoming angle to appear at your best – the world is watching! And they’re off!! Hat contest! We used only one of our categories: Best representation of theme. And I did have a volunteer judge, whose contributions were excellent and helped make the contest a great success. This is a participatory sport, after all!
Our proposed menu includes some daintier sweets than last year, and perhaps some different sandwich selections. Here are some photos from the 2007 Tea, whose theme was "Alice in Wonderland: Tea with the Mad Hatter"
