an event of Costumer's Guild West, Inc.

Costume College 2009 will be held on Friday, July 31 to Sunday, August 2, 2009, at the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys, California.

The latest from the President:

The Costume College 2009 Registration form is available here.

Sister Organization members and non-members, DO NOT send in applications postmarked before December 1, 2008.

Please remember to send EACH APPLICATION in a separate envelope. If multiple applications are in one envelope, that whole group will be send to the "end of the line," to be drawn after all the others, if there is still space.

Thank you for your time and attention.

No applications were accepted at Costume College 2008. This is because it nearly was sold out by the end of the Costume College 2007, leaving no opportunity for those who were not attending in 2007 to apply. In an effort to be fair to everyone, especially those who were not able to attend this year, the Board of the Costumer's Guild West, Inc. has instituted a two-tiered lottery system, as described below.

Applications to attend Costume College must be made by post office mail.

The registration form for members of Sister Organizations and non-members of CGW, Inc. is on the website now. Return your application postmarked no earlier than December 1st .

The Costume College registration forms for Sister Organization members and non-members of CGW, Inc. will be available on this web site one week prior to the beginning of the Second Tier acceptance period (in November 2008).

Only ONE Costume College registration form and ONE check or money order per envelope will be allowed. Envelopes containing more than ONE registration form and/or check will be held to the "end of the line" to be given Costume College memberships after those who followed the rules, if any are still available. For your own safety, DO NOT SEND CASH through the mail. We will NOT be able to accept anything that must be signed for, so please DO NOT send your application via "Registered Mail." Please write "Costume College 2009" on the OUTSIDE of the envelope, so we won't open it before the lottery. DO NOT enclose any other correspondence with your application since we will not be opening these envelopes until the lottery dates listed below..

Registration for Member drawings and/or discounts are subject to verification, using CGW or Sister Organization rosters. Registrants must be members in good standing (dues paid up) of their applicable group (if any) as of 9/1/2008. Sister Organizations presently eligible for Member discount prices are the Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild and the San Diego Costume Guild.

The Second Tier Lottery will be drawn from CGW members whose applications were not pulled in or received by the earlier drawing, and all Sister or non-member applications received. No applications from Sister Organization members or non-members will be accepted if postmarked earlier than 12/1/2008, and no lottery applications, member or not, dated later than 1/6/2009. The second tier drawing will be held the weekend of 1/10/2009.

After these two lotteries, if any places remain, the prices go up, as detailed below.

Pricing structure: Though the cost for non-member attendance at Costume College has increased, please note that the prices for the Time Traveler's Gala and the Fantasy Tea remain the same as for 2008. There will be only one price increase for Costume College membership, if any are still available, which will go into effect after the Second Tier Lottery drawing, in 2009. This will include anyone who sends in their application after 1/6/2009.
